Finally a new form for small organizations trying to apply for Tax-Exempt Status. The fee is only $400.00. The organization must have gross receipts of $50.000 or less and assets of $250,000 or less. The form must be submitted on line through www.pay.gov. A paper form may not be submitted.
You must first complete the 1023 eligibility worksheet found in the 1023-EZ instructions. This worksheet contains 26 questions. After you make sure you are eligible you can then go the the above website and complete a three page application. This application has six parts. The first section just asks for the organization’s identification. You must have a federal identification number. The second section is about the organizational structure . You must have organizing documents that contain the 501(c)3 exempt purpose in it along with other requirements that must be in the organization documents (print the application first to make sure your organization documents are in conformance with the requirements). The third section asks about the organizations activities. The fourth section ask about foundation classification. Section five is about reinstatement. Section six is just for officer’s signature.
